No one should die or suffer because they cannot afford health care, and no one should go broke because they get sick. If you agree, please post this as your status for the rest of the day.
what does this accomplish? this is literally the least we can do and we think, because it's on the internet and we have 500 facebook friends, that this will change something.
guess what? it won't. internet petitions might get your favorite shows on DVD, but they're not going to do anything when it comes to real issues. sorry. that's not how it works.
the problem is, I don't think we realise how anonymous we are. we have friends on the internet. some of us hundreds or thousands. we get tons of hits on our blogs or websites, we have lots of followers on Twitter...basically, we think what we say on the internet matters.
but it's never been about what we say. it will always be about what we do.
Today I wrote my representative, Suzanne Kosmas telling her about why I cared about health care reform. That's literally the least I could do. I've been thinking about going to the rally in DC on the 13th (anybody want to come? the bus ride isn't that bad). I still need to educate myself on this issue because I don't feel comfortable enough talking about it yet. All I know is that things need to change.
But this livejournal post won't change anything. It's got to be me who does the changing.
Write your representative. It's not hard.

Also, as a fair warning, a lot of them are of Hugh Laurie. I doubt any of you are surprised.
( and remember, if you're looking for low prices on used and broken electronics, don't forget...Collapse )
ps. these are the good ones. there's a lot of crappy ones on my computadora.

please, recommend me fun things. interesting things. beautiful things. ffffound.com can only do so much.
here are categories of things I'd like:
-design (web design, typography, posters, books, etc.)
-retro/vintage things (clothes, decorative items, advertisements, faux retro/vintage design)
-motion graphics hoohah, sweet animations that may or may not be by french animation students
-interesting blogs (besides the aforementioned ffffound, I also frequent swiss-miss.com, drawn.ca, motionographer.com, smashingmagazine.com, monster-munch.com, designspongeonline.com, ampersand.gosedesign.net)
-awesome stuff for sale on etsy or some other site (I guess cool home decor stuff or even t-shirts or bags or something)
-maybe photography is it's lofi or gritty or polaroidy or something.
-and maybe short films if they're really rocking. I don't have the attention span for anything in a long format right now
also: if you or your friends have made some bangin' shit, feel free to share.
thank you. I love you all.
